Supplement Reviews

L-Tyrosine

This amino acid acts as a direct pre-cursor to the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.  This amino acid has been called the “focus” supplement because it seems to enhance mental focus and mental clarity.  This is especially useful before a workout.  Tyrosine has been used and researched by the military extensively.  It seems to delay mental fatigue and boosts exercise performance.  Some recent research confirms the performance enhancing effects of tyrosine in exercise.  Interestingly enough, tyrosine also helps manufacture thyroid hormone which regulates metabolism in the body (I guess that is why you see it in some fat loss formulas on the market).  The recommended dose is 1-3 grams one hour before training.
