Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol)

This fat soluble antioxidant works its magic in the lipid parts of the body such as cell membranes and body fat stores. The main function of vitamin E is to maintain membrane integrity in body cells as it may provide physical stability to membranes. It acts as a powerful anti-oxidant preventing the oxidation (peroxidation) of unsaturated fatty acids in the phospholipids of cellular membranes.  Vitamin E can be very effective in helping fight free radicals.  A good dose is 400-800 IU in divided doses daily preferably in the natural d-alpha tocopherol form which seems to be better absorbed.  Taking it with some fat may aid absorption.
